The Faith Club: A Muslim, a Christian, a Jew – Three Women Search for
Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver, Priscilla Warner
Shortly after 9/11, three women meet together for interfaith dialogue, initially with the goal of writing a children’s book that teaches tolerance and points out similarities between Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Ranya Idliby is a Muslim of Palestinian descent, Priscilla Warner is a Reform Jew, and Suzanne Oliver is a Christian who grew up Catholic and now attends an Episcopal Church. During the ensuing years, the women explore concerns, stereotypes, and misunderstandings about their religions. In discussing and researching tough questions about prayer, rituals, the afterlife, social justice, and more, the women grow deeper in their own faiths and in their friendship with each other. The reader is encouraged to start a similar faith club, and advice and resources are provided at the end of the book.
