the season of Lent & Holy Week

It’s an All-Ages Sunday Service with something for everyone as we leave Lent and enter into Holy Week by commemorating the story of Jesus coming into Jerusalem on a donkey with crowds of people waving palm branches and singing “Hosanna!” Join us for the service, communion, a sermon from Adam, and palm sundaes after the service.

The story of Good Friday is hard, heavy, and powerful. Join us for a contemplative candle-lit service of stories and music as we experience the story of Jesus' final teachings and death, and experience why honouring death and despair is a sacred practice.

Easter is the celebration of truth at the heart of our faith: Christ is risen, Love is alive, and Death is not the end.

Join us as we celebrate this everything changing news and embrace what it means for our lives and world.

We have 2 services: ☀️ our 7am Sunrise Communion Service at the base of Spencer Smith Pier, and 💒 our big 10am Sunday Service at the church. (If you want to come to both, we’ll have a small breakfast at the church after the Sunrise Service, and a chance for a prayer walk led by Peggy at 8:30am)

Lent is about repentance

We know. Scary word. But here’s the thing: it’s actually a beautiful word because it means ‘to change your mind.’ As in, ‘to change the way you think.’ As in ‘to change the way you live.’ As in ‘to return to how you were always meant to live.' Once we strip away the shame that’s been added onto it, repentance is the invitation we all get to return to a life and world we were always meant to have.

This year we’re inviting people to practice repentance by picking something up - a practice, a mindset, a activity - something that you can do for 40 days that’ll move you towards wholeness. What can you pick up? What can you do to take you one small step closer to the person you want to be and the life you want to have?

This Lent we do a deep dive into Jesus’ most challenging and compelling messages: the Sermon on the Mount. For all of us who have looked at our lives and world and cried, “there must be more to life than this!” - this is for you. Each week we discover how there is more to life than this and how there is a different way to life.

Join us on Sundays at 10am, beginning February 22.

Art, poetry, and music are big parts of our spirituality and we’re excited to offer a brand new playlist of 40 songs for the 40 days of Lent meant to set the mood for transformation and healing.

For those who want a spiritual practice this Lent, we invite you to download and use our Lenten devotional. This year our devotional follows along with our Sunday series on the sermon on the mount and invites you into the practice of lectio divina - this ancient way of engaging with scripture. For thousands of years this practice has helped people find meaning, wisdom, and truth in these passages and we think you’ll discover the same.
